That these changes might be long overdue to you doesn’t mean the upgrade should be free (aka it is worth nothing). The workflow changes *seem* to be pretty major improvements (a ReFill/sound browser, “tabbed’ switching between the main views, and drag & drop). It’s almost a badge of honor around here. TalentedLuchtaine's Experience i love cubase and i have been using it for more than 14 years but i really dont like the direction that steinberg cubase is taking.this daw is getting overdone with so many unnecessary buttons and features that is just making cubase a CPU consuming software, creating problems for creation flowing (due how much cpu horsepower is needed to work).i have a dedicated computer just for cubase and it is a 3000 euro machine and now i figure that i just cant use the same amount of tracks and plugins that i was used to work, on cubase 7.5, without lagging and performance overloads, bad decisions made by these "new age" guys that are taking cubase on this direction.even the trademark transport UI was changed for something that looks pretty stuid, i deeply regret upgrading for cubase 10, by the way i cant use my windows classic theme( it is the best due the fact that uses less OS resources) and with cubase 10 im forced to use windows aero themes.who in the world had this stupd idea? yeah c10 has some nice new features but the amount of bad changes is actually overwhelming, i think they are making cubase nowadays for DJ´s and musicians that work with loops and not real musicians with full bands. And make sure to visit the forums and resources section, it is a part of the product. Bit of a learning curve, but not unintuitive or complicated - just packed with features Long demo period to decide. To sum up - most affordable, just as capable, most customizable and extensible DAW on the market. There are resources online to figure it out on your own if you prefer this and there's a nice, approachable community if you prefer that. Frankly, the only problem with Reaper you might have is the inital learning period, before you even know what is it capable of doing for you. It's lightweight, portable yet less limited than some other DAWs. Beautiful skins going much farther than simple button recolors, wide options for customization and scripting. That was a misunderstanding, Reaper can become whatever You want and require it to be. Out of the box, FLS seemed cleaner, prettier and more modern - reflecting the much higher price. Paid choices boiled down to FL Studio and Reaper. LMMS felt more polished, but still wasn't comfortable. ElDoRado1239's Experience I found Audacity capable but its GUI is visually crude and can go user-hostile on you.
